Our mission (mish) at Nector is to create food and beverages in a way that combines traditional with a unique and modern twist. Sourcing and combining the best and most unusual ingredients in a way that alters the state of consciousness from a normal trip to a cafe into a magical experience.
Below you will find some of those ingredients and why we love them. We will also share some of the ways we practice conscious commerce and sacred serving through our heart centered cafe practices. We understand that what we create is nourishing, not only the body, but the heart, mind, spirit and inner child and it's our kuleana (responsibility) to be centered in the heart while we lovingly prepare what we serve you.
How We Create
1. Clear Daily for Fresh Start
Every morning we circle up, practice breathwork, center ourselves and set intentions for the day.
Every night we clear the space by deep cleaning and smudging and clearing with palo santo, sage, sound and breath.
2. Set Intentions and Maintaining Sacred Space
Every creation has an intention that we hold while creating, remembering that you are trusting us with your nourishment, abundance and time.
Cleaning the space between creations, remaining centered and in the heart and being aware and intentional to deliver consistent and amazing creations every time!
3. It's All in the Details
From the water we use, the cups and plates we serve on, the ingredients we create with and the recipes measured down to the gram, we have lovingly thought out every detail from inspiration to the first bite and last sip to create a magical and heart expanding experience.

Rusty's Hawaiian Coffee
Rusty Obra had a big dream: Turn the Ka'u District of the Big Island into a celebrated coffee region. After Rusty’s death, his wife, Lorie Obra, devoted their farm, mill and roastery to artisanal quality. Rusty’s Hawaiian has won international and domestic honors for producing and roasting coffee — and now showcases exceptional beans from multiple Hawaiian regions.

Konane is our house drip blend. Grown in the rich soil and cool climate of the Mauna Loa volcano’s southern slope, these beans are made with a washed process, then sun-dried.
Hoaka is our house espresso and dark roast blend. The beans are 100% sourced in Hawai'i from multiple islands and is a beautiful blend that celebrates the quintessential Hawaiian coffee.

All of our smoothies are made and naturally colored with these amazing Unicorn Superfoods! All superfoods and proteins are vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free and child-friendly.
Additionally, our smoothies are made with organic fruit, coconut milk, superfoods and less than 2oz of juice, creating a healthy and vibrant smoothie.
Since Nector's conception we have stored all of our teas, cacao and other herbs in Miron Ultraviolet Glass Jars. Miron glass is an antioxidant, biophotonic glass that acts as a natural filter to sunlight. It preserves the potency of natural products and extends shelf life by only allowing rays of light to enter that maintain the natural product's biophotons: visible violet light, non-visible UVA, and far-Infrared light. All of the teas we carry for resale are also packaged in these reuseable, amazing glass jars.
Our teas are cultivated, harvested, and blended from soil to cup with the Magic Hour Rule of Love. The base of their teas are grown in the tea estate where the founder was married. The exquisite buds are grown and harvested by trusted friends in a garden that touches the sky at the top of the mountains in the high-country of Sri Lanka.
The pristine Idulgashinna Bio Tea Garden’s perched above a wildlife preserve. It was the first tea garden to become certified Biodynamic and organic in the world, it’s home to a family of farmers and growers whose respect towards nature and one another has become the gold standard of tea estates all over the world. They also source from small organic family gardens in Taiwan, Rwanda, India, Yunnan, Kyoto and Kagoshima, Japan.
Magic Hour's formulator, Zhena, is an aromatherapist and was one of the founders of the Organic and Fair Trade movement over 20 years ago. She was crucial in getting rules for organics passed and has had a long-time passion for organics, Biodynamics and pure products.
Her blending style is bold and she uses Organic-Compliant extracts of fruits, essential oils, and spices that fall under the “Natural Flavors” broad stroke ingredient description by the FDA. We only use extracts and flavors extracted with non-toxic methods and are 100% natural coming from the fruit or spice or flower that is distilled without chemicals.
Other companies may use “Natural Flavors” that are in a Propylene Glycol base—Zhena fought the label standards on this chemical 15 years ago and is dedicated to NEVER using flavorings with this or any other chemicals. Their flavors are entirely extracted naturally using alcohol or steam distillation. In the blending process, if the extract has alcohol, the alcohol dissipates.

When she writes, “Natural Flavors” it’s not because she wants to but that’s what the FDA requires. It’s not a great description and we assure you her standards are of the highest using only natural extracts and essential oils.
